Zombie your right. It goes beyond BB. But given the pool of players to choose from it's BB's job to field the best squad.
I feel that against the elite teams internationally the team needs to break away from the standard 4-4-2 as we can't match up man for man. Playing a 4-3-2-1 would allow the USNT to remain strong defensively,(playing Landon, Bradley, & Dempsey across the MF) yet get the pace and attacking play of players like Adu & Davies, which will allow Altidore to play up on top of the center backs. All of this plays into the strengths of the team as you put players in the best positions for the TEAM to be successful.
BB on the other hand prefers to play teams straight up allowing them to exploit the obvious weaknesses of the US team and allowing only set individuals on the US squad to have success.
I could ramble for days about the lack of creativity and knowledge of the opponent.

Zombie- I think a lot of people have underestimated the importance of Heydude. Yea, he's kind of reckless, but he also provides a lot of spark and offensive chances, something neither Bornstein nor Spector has contributed. I would like to see him at LB when he gets back, because we obviously need someone there, and Bornstein is not the man. Plus we appear to be pretty loaded at RB, with Dolo, Frankie, Spector, and even Wynne in the running.

Has Spector cemented the job, even when Dolo comes back? Maybe not, but he should be pretty darn close to doing so. It's too bad that one of them has to sit. And it's too bad that they're all so young (obviously besides Frankie), because I feel like they should be incorporated somehow. Wynne is fast, athletic, strong and physical and provides that offensive spark that Frankie does, and Dolo and Spector are just plain good defeners. Unfortunately, at least one of them must sit, and 2 if we find a suitable LB in the future.
